POE 3.6 Chieftain - Tanky and OP single target - Ancestral Warchief Build

This Build was inspired by waggle's video on this decision to roll a bruwarchieftain

Pros & Cons:
+ tanky (9k life at 90) with decent armor (20k or so)
+ decent regen (1k lps)
+ totem playstyle is very safe with 5 totems to hide behind of
+ totems leech
+ very cheap gear
+ can do almost all content (ele reflect, enfeeble, no leech, no regen).
+ only map mod we can't do is a combination of both no leech and no regen.
- clear speed is mediocre/slow
- totem playstyle is not for everyone
- no regen & no leech mods combo is impossible - still better than most builds though
- run speed is slow therefore not a good delve runner (personally)
- no flashy herald effect

Ascendancy:
Normal: Ngamahu, Flame's Advance
Cruel: Hinekora, Death's Fury
Merciless: Arohongui, Moon's Presence
Uber: Tukohama, War's Herald

Bandits: Kill all.

POE 3.6 Chieftain - Chunky Chargrill - Incinerate CwC Volatile Dead Build

This build will be my league starter in betrayal!
With the changes to how to shield charge works using a quicksilver flask of adrenaline will give a very nice movement boost while leveling and mapping.

This build is designed to be an SSF high-level mapper with good overall clear speed, good survivability, decent single target damage (with some work from the player) while not relying on any specific gear other than 5 or 6 links (farm a tabby in blood aqueducts).

This is a very good league starter due to the good balance of damage, survivability and no gear requirements.

There are a few variants to the build which will be detailed later, but the main body of this guide is to cover a very simple and effective version of the build that is easy to get up and running that can be modified as you wish later.

Ascendancy:
1. Ngamahu, Flame's Advance
2. Hinekora, Death's Fury
3. Tawhoa, Forest's Strength
4. Ramako, Sun's Light

Bandits:
Kill all for the 2 points.

Pantheons:
Major - Soul of Lunaris - Fully Upgraded
Minor - Soul of Shakari - Fully Upgraded

POE 3.6 Chieftain - Ngamahu Overloaded - Consecrated Path Build

In the path of exile synthesis updates: Added defensive path for Ascendancy and an updated FAQ. Updated flasks section to include Atziri's Promise. Special thanks to @noneskii and @ADM0N for pointing out Atziri's Promise to be a viable flask for the build since Chieftain is not restricted by Avatar of Fire. Added Uber Lab runner skill tree and recommended Immortal Call setup (gems section). Added Loreweave into recommended gears section. Updated skill tree for patch 3.6. Added Consecrated Path setup.

Ascendancy:
Ngamahu, Flame's Advance -> Tawhoa, Forest's Strength -> Hinekora, Death's Fury -> Ramako, Sun's Light

POE 3.6 Chieftain - League Starter -Crit Consecrated Path Build

POE 3.6 Changes: Overall, there were minor buffs and nerfs. Mostly negligible. The consecrated ground now adds 100% increased crit (buff)
Loreweave nerf -- lost 2% max res (max is now 78%) but it's still good. Alternatively, use elder/synthesized chest if u want to. Tombfist nerf -- lost at speed but it is still the best choice for gloves. Curse buff vs bosses by 70%, except enfeeble temp chains were nerfed. Use any of these: assassins mark/flammability/ele weakness/enfeeble

Pros & Cons:
+ Tanky. Lots of Life Regen is nice for not dying vs Delve darkness
+ Higher DPS than Flicker Strike
+ Many ways to scale damage
+ High clear speed without movement speed
+ Fun & Controllable version of Flicker Strike
+ Start using it from LV28 until endgame
- The molten strike might have higher single-target DPS

Bandits:
2 Passives or Alira. I took the Alira. Mana regen is pretty nice.

Pantheon:
There is no 1 best choice, and they are all useful. Just take something you like.

POE 3.6 Chieftain - Strong League Starter Holy Spells - Holy Flame Totem Build

The building concept is pretty easy..the Flame Totem and all new Holy Spells deal physical damage and convert a part of it to fire or fire/lightning. We use chieftain to get 100% conversion to elemental damage. Chieftain makes this build also very tanky and has great damage synergies with those skills. The use of totems makes this build a cheap league starter. We get up to four totems.

Path of Building got updated.
- Changed the Holy Flame Totem skill gems setup! (see Skill section)
- Switched from Flame Golem to Lightning Golem
- Updated the leveling template according to new PoB data and leveling experience.
-Because of the feedback, I changed the ascendancy order!

Pros & Cons:
+ Super Strong League Starter
+ Easy a fun playstyle
+ Beginner friendly
+ High dps (+3M SHaper dps are possible, for endgame setup check out the end of the guide "Mechelle's Setup")
+ Very safe, even HC viable
+ Budget friendly (even SSF viable)
+ You can choose between all holy spells (Holy Flame Totem, Wave of Conviction, Purifying Flame, Divine Ire)
- Clearspeed is not meta.

Ascendancy:
1. Ngamahu, Flame's Advance: 50% physical to fire, 10% fire penetration and dps.
2. Hinekora, Death's Fury: 1% damage leeched as life, totems leech 1% life for us, 10% more strength and a chance to cover enemies in Ash.
3. Arohongui, Moon's Presence: Enemies receive more damage near totems and deal less damage.
4. Tukohama, War's Herald: Totems are immune to fire, get 50% of our armour, can taunt on hit and reflect a part of the damage back to enemies.

Bandits:
Kill them all for two extra passive points.

Pantheons:
- Soul of Solaris
- Soul of Tukohama

POE 3.6 Chieftain - Endly HC/Softcore - Holy Flame Totem Build

Pros & Cons:
+ FAST CLEARSPEED
+ VERY SAFE
+ ALL MAP MODS
+ BEGINNER FRIENDLY
+ CHEAP
+ CAN RUN ON HARDCORE
+ ALL CONTENT
+ TOTAL OF 5 TOTEMS ( x Multiple Totem Support )
- No life/mana Regen maps can be difficult
- Elemental Reflect Map Mod Killing Totems Fast

Ascendancy:
1. Ngamahu, Flame Advance (For insane damage)
2. Hinekora, Death's Fury (for the extra damage and life/life leech applies to you from totems)
3. Arohongui, Moon¨s Presence (More Damage)
4. Tukohoma, War's Herald (More Damage and Taunt)

Bandits:
Kill all for 2 points!

Pantheons:
- Soul of Arakaali
- Soul of Garukhan

POE 3.6 Chieftain - Blood Magic Dual Wield Crit - Holy Flame Totems Build

This build uses the newly revamped Holy Flame trying to use all his parts to the maximum using blood magic for the mana, Soul Mantle for the curses and extra totem and damage , Dual wield for the projectile speed and movement skills cooldown recovery and crit to synergize with the consecrated ground detailed explanation in the spoiler below.

The inspiration from this guide comes from various streamers, guide makers and my own experience (Special mention to Take Cat and Ghazzy) but all make some kind of compromises and didn't seem to use all that Holy Flame Totem has to offer (the consecrated ground, the curse immunity and the free critical) and the idea of trying to use it fully became this build.

Pros & Cons:
+ Reflect immune can do all mods.
+ Cheap to start
+ Don´t have to worry about mana at all
+ Semi immune to curses
+ Blood Magic Chieftain dual wielding wands hipster factor
+ A lot of room to grow
+ Easy 100% Conversion to fire
+ Very Tanky 225% Increased Life and totem leech
- You are not completely immune to curses
- You can only use 1 aura
- Is not the highest possible damage version
- Blood Magic Chieftain dual wielding wands hipster factor

Ascendancy:
Ngamahu, Flame's Advance
Hinekora, Death's Fury
Arohongui, Moon's Presence
Tukohama, War's Herald

Bandits: Alira

POE 3.6 Chieftain - Chunky Chargrill - Incinerate CwC Volatile Dead Build

This build is designed to be an SSF high-level mapper with good overall clear speed, good survivability, decent single target damage (with some work from the player) while not relying on any specific gear other than 5 or 6 links (farm a tabby in blood aqueducts).

This is a very good league starter due to the good balance of damage, survivability and no gear requirements.

There are a few variants to the build which will be detailed later, but the main body of this guide is to cover a very simple and effective version of the build that is easy to get up and running that can be modified as you wish later.

This build gets pretty much all of the damage from gem links, abyss jewels, and the skill tree. As a result of your gear just needs to focus on life and resists.

Ascendancy:
1. Ngamahu, Flame's Advance
2. Hinekora, Death's Fury
3. Tawhoa, Forest's Strength
4. Ramako, Sun's Light

Bandits: Kill all.

Pantheons:
Major - Soul of Lunaris - Fully Upgraded
Minor - Soul of Shakari - Fully Upgraded
These are my preferred pantheons as they patch out a few of the counters that the current content is likely to throw at you fairly often.

POE 3.6 Chieftain - Ngamahu to get HC achievements Build

There were minimal changes, and while the general nerfs to leech affects the build, with the life gained on hit it still restores to full effortlessly.

The purpose of this build is to get the Eternal achievement - level 90 in hardcore, with minimal budget or preparation. I am an SC player that just wanted to do HC for the achievements and have no intention to play late into the endgame.

Pros & Cons:
+ solid defenses with massive life restoration
+ easy intuitive playstyle
+ minimal budget (no 6L and only one cheap unique needed)
- unreliable single target damage
- unimpressive clear speed
- cyclone is terrible for endgame

POE 3.6 Chieftain - Molten Strike Build

3.6: Anger buffs. Loreweave and tomb first nerf. Nothing changes so far, except using Bottled Faith. Will add more stuff if 3.6 reveals some fitting gear choices.

Note: Post all your questions in this thread. Make sure your profile is PUBLIC before asking for help so your character is visible. Please check out the FAQ and previous responses in the thread if you can, chances are I've answered them already.

Pros & Cons:
+ Tanky. (6.5k+ hp, 6 end charges, regen, up to 80% max res, chieftain)
+ Busted single target.
+ Easy to fill up res.
- Okayish clearspeed.

Ascendancy:
Tawhoa > Ramako > Ngamahu > Hinekora

Bandits: Alira

Pantheons:
Solaris and Ralakesh.

POE 3.6 Chieftain - All content viable - Purifying Flame Build

+ Giga boss killer - Farmed uber elder repeatedly with ease the second I had access to it, never bricked a set as a relative amateur boss killer.
+ Gigantic AoE - Tectonic Slam and pre-AoE nerf levels of screen cover. Everything on your immediate screen and dies, sometimes with some off-screening. HUGE AoE :).
+ Extremely high damage - (5mil+ with high-end gear, ~2-3.5 mil with budget gear)
+ Very tanky -7.5k+ life w/ perma cons. ground
+ Well rounded tackles all content equally well - bossing/mapping/delving
+ Scale-ability - Scales extremely well with gear, can be played on a budget
+ Easy to play - Like I said, I'm a melee player, so I wanted to build a spellcaster that could stand, shoot, and tank.

- Cannot do ele reflect maps.
- Struggles with no life/mana regen maps - Can be done with a mana flask swap in or mana gained per hit/kill somewhere.
- Not a super speed build - Your mobility is tied to flame dash and Quicksilver. Not slow, but not the Flash!
- Circle of Anguish can be expensive - You can play on a budget with a Mark of the Shaper + Elder ring setup until you have some currency.

Bandits: Kill all.

Pantheons:
This is pretty much personal preference. I like using Lunaris and Tukohama as I hate projectile enemies and Tukohama gives us more life regen and Phys reduction when we stand and cast.
Switch to Yugol for uber elder (and use a sapphire flask).

POE 3.6 Chieftain - Demi's Pure Strength Righteous Fire Build

Ruby Flasks (and other ele flasks) were changed from 6% maximum resistances to -20% damage taken of that element. It's a slight tone down, but we never needed the flask to regen a shitload anyways. It just unlocked more overall.!

Minor skill tree changes, otherwise the build is exactly the same. Leveling with Incinerate/Firestorm/Scorching Ray or any other Fire Spell should be easier now as they've buffed most spells. Enjoy!

Ascendancy:

Bandits: Points or Oak

Pantheons:
As for Pantheons, you can take whatever you want. They can be hot-swapped so just test whichever you like most.

POE 3.6 Chieftain - DJEnzyme's Curse Immunity Fireball Totems Build

Pros & Cons:
+ Very interactive for a totem build.
+ Fun resource management gimmick.
+ Should be fairly adaptable to Summon Holy Flame Totem.
+ You can start leveling key skills (Fireball and Spell Totem) early.
+ You actually get to build crit instead of just grabbing Elemental Overload.
+ Multiple starting class options, Ascendant and Hierophant are both just as viable, if not more so.
- Requires good management of Flask uptime.
- Fireballs sometimes have trouble hitting fast targets.
- Easy to run out of mana if you're not careful.
- Running out of mana flask charges can be potentially deadly.

Ascendancy:
Ngamahu, Flame's Advance -> Hinekora, Death's Fury -> Ahorongui, Moon's Presence -> Tukohama, War's Herald

Bandits:
Kill 'em. Nothing is worth the 2 passive points.

Pantheon:
Solaris and Ryslatha are my go-to.
