Lost Ark: What exactly are the Tide, Sand, and Solar Dream tools used?

Virtues and why they should be

There are four Virtue characteristics in the Appearances and Virtues tab of the player character profile window - Wisdom, Kindness, Charisma. and Courage.

In standard dungeon gameplay, these four virtues do not affect combat performance. Virtues do not change story events or outcomes to advance quests, although they may sometimes offer alternate dialogue options with NPCs.

However, Virtue matters in maintaining a rapport with a particular NPC. Many rapport partners refuse to continue their specific rapport quests with the player until significant Virtue levels are reached.

For example, Tyrain's rapport quest "The Bachelor" needs the player to get 140 in all 4 Virtues to start. However, it can permit the player to interact with him, irrespective of whether or not their Virtues match the demands of his quest.

In some cases, interacting NPCs will not allow players to interact with them until they reach a certain Virtue threshold. For example, Neriya of Luterra Castle seeks out charismatic confidants and will not get concerned with people who do not live as much as her standards.

Become Virtuous

Characters naturally gain levels of Virtue by completing quests. Killing enemies often come with daring rewards, while solving interpersonal problems through dialogue sometimes grants bonuses to Wisdom.

Leveling up a character group's roster can passively apply permanent Virtue buffs to each character on the roster. Alternatively, Virtue Potions, sometimes given as a reward for completing an Adventurer's Tome, can be used to boost a single character's Virtue stats once.
